In Vinnytsia region, the director of a company engaged in illegal mining and sale of mineral resources caused damages to the state amounting to over 42 million hryvnias over the course of a year. According to the Vinnytsia Regional Police website, investigators have informed the man about the suspicion of committing a crime.

The 46-year-old official had leased a 12-hectare plot of land in the Turbivska territorial community. Without the necessary special permit for subsoil use, the entrepreneur illegally extracted sand with subsequent sale of the mineral resources.

According to the Deputy Chief of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police Edgar Papikyan, the 46-year-old director of the company engaged in the extraction of locally significant mineral resources did not have a special permit for subsoil use. Over the course of 2021-2022, the company illegally extracted nearly 47,000 cubic meters of mineral resources.

The amount of damage caused to the state exceeds 42 million hryvnias.

On June 21, investigators informed the offender about the suspicion of committing a crime, as stipulated in part 3 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the Rules for Protection or Use of Subsoil, Illegal Extraction of Mineral Resources).

For this crime, he could face imprisonment for up to 6 years.

The pre-trial investigation is being led by the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, with operational support from the Strategic Investigations Department in Vinnytsia Region.

The investigation is ongoing.
