Law enforcement officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region have detained a man who promised to facilitate illegal travel abroad with volunteer identification for $4,000. The criminal activities of the 20-year-old suspect were documented by the employees of the Migration Police Department of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police together with investigators from the Dnipro Regional Police Department, the Criminal Analysis Department, and the UOTZ.
The perpetrator demanded $4,000 for providing consultations and producing a volunteer identification card, with the subsequent insertion of false information into the 'Shlyakh' information system, supposedly for organizing the transportation of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. On May 3, with the support of the special police unit, he was apprehended while receiving the first part of the payment, which amounted to $2,600.
Currently, the suspect is detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He has been served with a notice of suspicion under Article 332, Part 3, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine), which carries a penalty of up to 9 years of imprisonment.
