Odesa citizen hid the body of his roommate in a cattle cemetery, and then confessed to the police about her murder

Deprived his cohabitant of life, hid the body in a cattle burial ground, and reported her disappearance: a 32-year-old resident of the Podilskyi district of Odesa was detained on suspicion of killing his civilian partner, according to the police.

In March of this year, a resident of the Pishchanska village community reported to law enforcement agencies the disappearance of his 29-year-old civilian partner. The woman, who had a disability, was declared missing. However, in May, the man again turned to the local police unit with a confession that he had killed his cohabitant and hidden her body in a cattle burial ground outside the village.

During questioning, the citizen explained that on March 18, as he and his wife were returning home on foot, a verbal conflict arose between them on one of the streets of the village. Angered by the woman's behavior, he pushed her to the ground, pressed on her neck from above with the weight of his body, and forcefully choked her. Feeling no resistance from the victim, the perpetrator moved her away from their place of residence to the cattle burial ground.

During the investigative actions, the deceased's body was recovered and sent for examination. According to the forensic expert's conclusion, her death occurred as a result of asphyxiation (strangulation).

The perpetrator was informed of suspicion under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and placed in a temporary detention facility under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.

Law enforcement authorities are working on selecting a preventive measure for the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
