180 women underwent screenings on the new mammography machine installed a month ago at the Mother and Child Center in Vinnytsia. Seven of them were diagnosed with malignant tumors," said Dr. Vasyl Hunko, a radiologist from the diagnostic department of the hospital.

Thanks to this equipment, it is possible to detect the first signs of neoplasms, known as microcalcifications, explained the radiologist. "The machine comes with a monitor that allows us to detect microcalcifications as small as a hundredth of a millimeter. The smaller the calcification, the more malignant it is. Detecting it at an early stage means quicker and easier treatment," said Vasyl Hunko.

Currently, the machine is operating in a test mode. Its installation has reduced the time patients spend at the facility by half. According to the radiologist, now patients can undergo screening and receive a medical conclusion within 25 minutes.

Currently, patient appointments are done on a "live queue" basis. The department operates in two shifts: on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to 1 PM, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM to 6 PM. Screenings are conducted based on referrals from family doctors. If you don't have a referral, you can pay for the service. The cost of mammography at the Mother and Child Center is 190 hryvnias.

The machine itself was purchased with funds from the budget of the Vinnytsia territorial community and cost 7,890,000 hryvnias.
