In the Poltava region, a man has been arrested who may be connected to at least ten burglaries in apartments in Kremenchuk and the surrounding area. This information was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in Poltava Oblast.
The police were able to apprehend the thief thanks to the vigilance of the residents of one of the buildings who reported a suspicious individual in the stairwell. Law enforcement officials have now identified the 51-year-old resident of Kremenchuk as the offender.
The Chief of Police of Poltava Oblast, Yevhen Rogachov, stated, "Our operatives and investigators, who were involved in solving and investigating a series of apartment burglaries, have identified the thief. After performing the necessary procedural actions, the only thing left was to apprehend him. Information from the residents of the multi-story building was invaluable in this case. Thanks to video footage from a camera that recorded the suspect in the stairwell during his 'search' for an apartment to burglarize, the operatives of Department No. 1 of the Kremenchuk District Police Department predicted the thief's actions. He was caught in the act under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying the detained individual of the suspicion and selecting a preventive measure for him is currently being addressed."
A criminal case has been opened on this matter under Article 185, Part 4 (Theft Committed During Martial Law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
