In Poltava Oblast for during the coronavirus pandemic, 17 percent of the entire population of the region fell ill

Starting from July 1st, Ukraine has lifted the state of emergency and quarantine measures that were introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus is now classified as a seasonal illness, similar to the flu. These topics were discussed during a staff meeting at the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

During the meeting, Viktor Lysak, the Director of the Department of Health of the Poltava Regional State Administration, provided information on the impact of the pandemic in the region. He reported that a total of 234,395 people in the region have contracted COVID-19, which represents 17% of the entire population. Among them, 229,569 individuals have recovered from the disease, while 4,629 Poltava residents have unfortunately passed away due to complications related to the virus.

Viktor Lysak also noted that the coordinated efforts in the region played a significant role in managing the situation. Poltava's healthcare facilities did not face problems with oxygen supply, thanks to social business initiatives and the regional government.

He emphasized that the best defense against the disease is immunoprophylaxis, and vaccination efforts will continue in the region. Testing for COVID-19 will still be conducted, and if an infection is detected, modern treatments will be utilized. Hospitals in the region will also maintain the necessary infrastructure to provide oxygen to patients with severe cases of the disease.
