A traitor who was passing documents marked 'secret' to the Russians has been arrested in Kirovohrad region

A traitor who was employed at a defense industry enterprise and handed over classified documents to the enemy has been arrested in Kirovohrad region. The Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this incident on Telegram.

According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2023, a resident of Kropyvnytskyi district voluntarily agreed to cooperate with representatives of Russian special services. Following the orders of the enemy intelligence, he deliberately secured employment at one of the defense enterprises in Kirovohrad region. He collected and transmitted information about the operations of the domestic defense industry object through Telegram.

The agent attempted to determine the precise quantity and types of foreign weapons undergoing maintenance at the Ukrainian defense company's base. The Counterintelligence Service of the Security Service of Ukraine apprehended the suspect 'in flagrante delicto' while he covertly photographed classified documents.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region, the FSB recruited the suspect long before the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. If the enemy's tasks were successfully executed, the Russian special service guaranteed him assistance in traveling to Russia and obtaining citizenship of the aggressor country.

Currently, the individual has been informed of suspicion of state treason (Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail.
