Today, another exchange of prisoners took place, releasing 43 servicemen and 2 civilians from enemy captivity. Additionally, two illegally deported children were successfully repatriated to Ukraine. The Office of the President and the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories reported this information.
Among those freed from captivity were 28 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers (including 10 defenders of Ukraine), as well as 4 border guards, 10 National Guard servicemen, and 1 naval sailor. They were defending Ukraine in Mariupol, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.
Among the released defenders, two had been listed as missing in action.
Furthermore, two civilians returned home: an employee of the "Azovstal" plant and an activist from Kherson.
In cooperation with the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, two unlawfully deported children were repatriated to Ukraine. Their mother, a combat medic, was released from captivity in the aggressor country in October 2022.
The prisoner exchange was made possible through joint efforts of the Office of the President, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Ministry of Reintegration, and other relevant agencies.
The National Information Bureau (NIB) under the Ministry of Reintegration traditionally provided the released individuals with backpacks containing clothing, footwear, hygiene products, and smartphones.
The NIB also assists the liberated individuals in restoring their documents, bank accounts, and SIM cards. They also help expedite the process of obtaining a one-time financial assistance of 100,000 hryvnias from the government by helping gather the necessary documents.
