In Myrhorod, Poltava region, the memory of fallen countrymen was honored

Today, July 10, in Myrhorod, Poltava region, the residents paid tribute to the memory of defenders who lost their lives at the hands of Russian terrorists, starting from 2014.

57 flags were set up in a field near the memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Operation of Joint Forces/Russo-Ukrainian War. Each flag is personalized with the name, first name, and years of life of the fallen defender.

57 members of the Myrhorod community have already been confirmed to have died at the hands of the occupiers in this war. Unfortunately, during the printing of the individual flags, it became known in the community about the deaths of two more fellow citizens: Oleksiy Okhota and Yevhen Strutsky. Flags with their names will be installed soon.

Oleksiy Mykolayovych Okhota was born on November 30, 1975, in the city of Zvenyhorodka, Cherkasy region. Military service in the Armed Forces was close to the heart of the young man. After completing his military service, Oleksiy devoted the next eight years of his life to contract service in a military unit in the city of Myrhorod.

Senior Soldier Okhota began performing military duty on April 9, 2022, as part of the military unit A0222 of the separate presidential brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky.

On July 7, 2023, the soldier suddenly passed away due to a severe illness.

Yevhen Strutsky was born on February 4, 1992, in the village of Mali Sorochyntsi, Myrhorod district. He was a Master of Sports of Ukraine in kettlebell lifting. In early April of last year, Yevhen Strutsky took up the defense of his homeland.

On April 11, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission, a sniper's insidious bullet seriously wounded the young soldier. For three months, doctors fought for Yevhen's life. Unfortunately, on July 6, 2023, the heart of Yevhen Oleksandrovych Strutsky stopped beating.
