In Vinnytsia region, a 100-meter bridge across the Sib River has been reopened for traffic. This restoration has reestablished direct transportation connections between Odesa and Vinnytsia. The bridge had been closed for one and a half years due to the deteriorating condition of its supports, leading to significant traffic congestion on detour routes.
During the repairs, the bridge was widened, and the supports and superstructure were repaired. Additionally, lighting was installed, and asphalt work was carried out.
According to the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, as a result of Russia's invasion in Ukraine, 346 bridges were destroyed, including 157 on state roads. In the past year, a collaborative effort between the State Agency for Reconstruction and the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories and Infrastructure resulted in the restoration of 41 bridges, with four more overpasses reopened in 2023 in Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Zhytomyr regions.
Currently, work is ongoing to restore 25 bridges located in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions. Road workers are coordinating their efforts with regional military administrations and the military during these restoration projects.
