The prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into violations of laws and customs of war following a Russian missile strike during the night of May 8th in the Odesa and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi regions.
According to the investigation, in the night of May 8th, Russian military forces, using prohibited means of warfare under international law, carried out missile strikes on civilian and tourist infrastructure in the populated areas of Odesa and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts. The prosecutor's office reported that one person died and two others were injured as a result of a missile explosion in a warehouse of a food enterprise in the Odesa district. A three-story warehouse building suffered 'significant damage' due to shelling and fire.
The missile strikes on resort villages in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district resulted in the complete destruction of a recreation base and damage to at least five neighboring bases and over 20 private summer houses.
Preliminary information suggests that the attacks were carried out using Kh-22 cruise missiles. It's worth noting that, according to the information from PC 'Pivden' (South), Odesa was attacked at around midnight by Tu-22M3 long-range aviation bombers. In total, they launched eight missiles from the area near Cape Tarkhankut in occupied Crimea. Some of the missiles did not reach their intended targets.
