Odessa-based ecologist, Vladislav Balinsky, released the video, which highlights the aftermath of the Russian diversion at the power station.

The video reveals a significant amount of organic and inorganic waste that has been carried from the Dnieper River to the coast. The filming took place on July 15 at the "Sobachyi" beach in Odessa. The colonies of mussels in the area, confined between breakwaters and piers, have been severely affected. Approximately 50% of the mussels in this section have perished. The situation appears to be similar on other Odessa beaches with wave cut terraces.

The condition of mussel colonies in the coastal zone, which is not confined by breakwaters and piers, requires further investigation, as well as those located further from the shore.

Beyond that, pockets of organic and garbage deposits on the seabed were also observed. These areas represent a significant and serious problem due to their size and density.

The sand under the layer of plant remains at the "Sobachyi" beach appears black, indicating local anoxia. All the benthic organisms that inhabited this section of the sand (mollusks, spirochetes, small crustaceans) have died due to oxygen depletion. It is likely that such a situation characterizes the entire area affected by the sabotage.

The extremely low number of fish in the region may also be a consequence of the widespread anoxia. However, there is hope that during the decontamination process, the fish might have migrated further away from the shore and will gradually return.
