A meeting took place between Roman Hryhorishyn, Deputy Head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, and Mr. Janik du Pon, founder of the non-governmental organization "SPARK."
The main topics of discussion were active collaboration and the development of joint initiatives that would allow for the signing of Cooperation Agreements between the ports of Odessa and Rotterdam. This was reported on the Odessa RMA website. During the meeting, Mr. Janik du Pon noted that the management of the port in Rotterdam has an interest in the project for the restoration of Ukrainian ports in Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. Furthermore, colleagues from the Netherlands are ready to assist during the technological modernization of the ports.
During the meeting, they also mentioned that the Russian Federation blocked the Grain Initiative's operation. Now, they are attempting to destroy the infrastructure of ports in Odessa through missile strikes and drone attacks. Therefore, there is an urgent need in the region to attract foreign experts for the restoration of ports. Currently, not all ports in Greater Odessa are operational, except for the Danube port. However, due to its low capacity, the Danube port cannot ensure the export of the required amount of grain, which could affect food security stabilization.
The Odessa RMA understands that the restoration process has a long-term perspective. Therefore, the regional administration is already considering investment attraction and the construction of new terminals.
