It became known who of the military can be retired during martial law - Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the relevant law Ukraine news 20 Jul 2023 at 13:14

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed Law No. 8169. This law improves the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service." It specifically regulates the part related to the fulfillment of military duty by citizens, the completion of military service, and service in the military reserve.

In particular, the law defines which servicemen can be released to the reserve during a state of war. This pertains to military personnel who have been declared unfit for military service by military medical commissions due to their health condition. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported this.

The document also specifies that citizens who are initially enlisted for military service under a contract will undergo mandatory probation for up to six months.

The changes in the legislation are explained by the need to bring the provisions in line with the Statutes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the Laws of Ukraine "On Professional Advanced Education" and "On Vocational (Professional-Technical) Education."

There is also a need to separate the provisions of the law related to peacetime and special periods, such as during mobilization, the state of war, and the results of the introduction of a wartime regime in the country.

Earlier, we reported that a rehabilitation center for military personnel has opened in Odesa. Each patient at the center will be treated by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including physical rehabilitation doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, assistants, speech therapists, and psychologists, who will provide quality, accessible, and evidence-based rehabilitation assistance to Ukraine's defenders.
