Taras Nelziev, a graduate of the "NIKA" sports school for children and youth, will be a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival 2023, which will take place in Slovenia. This was reported on the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration's page.
At the European Youth Olympic Festival, scheduled for July 25-29 in Maribor, Slovenia, Taras Nelziev will compete in judo.
Previously, we reported that the athlete from Dnipropetrovsk region, Mykhailo Kokhan, became the winner of a tournament in Hungary and secured a spot in the Paris Olympics. The Ukrainian athlete managed to throw the hammer to a distance of 79.37 meters, surpassing even the 2020 Olympic champion from Poland, Wojciech Nowicki.
In Poltava, awards were given to the winners of the European Games, World and European Championships. Twelve athletes from Poltava region competed in boxing, kayaking and canoeing, athletics, shot put, beach soccer, and Thai boxing. Among them, Alexander Khizhniak, Lyudmila Luzan, Oleg Kukharik, and Igor Trunov secured "gold" at the European Games.
Furthermore, Poltava's representative, Ivan Prymachenko, became the European Junior Wrestling Champion, and powerlifter Anatoliy Novopysmennyi set two world records at the World Classic Powerlifting Championships.
