Yesterday, on July 23rd, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale was registered in the territory of the Reshetylivka community of the Poltava region. This was reported on the official website of the Main Center for Special Control of the National Seismic Monitoring System.


The epicenter of the earthquake is located in the Reshetylivka community of the Poltava region, to the west of Poltava, at a depth of 7 km.


According to the classification of earthquakes, it belongs to imperceptible ones. The intensity of the oscillations is below the threshold of human sensitivity; the ground shocks are detected and recorded only by seismographs.


Earthquakes have been recorded in the Poltava region before, including the latest ones on May 26, 2023, with a magnitude of 3.5, and on June 8, 2023, with a magnitude of 3.7.


According to the information from the institution, a previous earthquake occurred on June 22 in the area of the temporarily occupied Crimea with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale.


The source of the earthquake is located in the northern part of the Black Sea, 50 kilometers south of the coast of the Crimean peninsula, at a depth of 10 km.
The earthquake does not pose a threat to the population of Ukraine.


According to the classification, the earthquake is considered perceptible, felt by a few people inside buildings and only under favorable conditions in the open air. The shaking is similar to that caused by a light truck. Observant individuals notice slight vibrations of lightweight objects, slightly stronger on upper floors.


The most recent earthquake of similar nature in the Crimean region occurred on February 27, 2023, with a magnitude of 4.0.
