Communities have allocated nearly 250 million hryvnias for the purchase of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the span of 5 months, funds from 129 local budgets were directed toward these purchases.
This information was shared on Facebook by Lyubov Shypovych, co-founder of the Razom for Ukraine civic organization and founder of the Dignitas charitable foundation, citing Viktor Maziarchuk, chairman of the board of the Center for Fiscal Policy Research.
The Ministry of Defense does not purchase drones like MAVIC/MATRICES and FPV drones. Fortunately, decentralization has taken place, and our communities can buy them, and as voters, we can demand this. If your city is not on the list, reach out to your local deputies and ask them why. In the first 5 months of 2023, nearly 250 million hryvnias from 129 local budgets were allocated for the purchase of quadcopters and their parts. This is still a small amount, insufficient even to cover the needs of one brigade for 5 months, but it's something we can increase together.
Top 5 communities that purchased the most drones:
1. Dnipro city - 68 million hryvnias
2. Lutsk city - 14 million hryvnias
3. Lysychansk city (Luhansk region) - 13 million hryvnias
4. Ivano-Frankivsk city - 9 million hryvnias
5. Opishnia town (Poltava region) - 9 million hryvnias (Population of Opishnia territorial community: 8,130 people)
Opishnia community purchased as many drones as Ivano-Frankivsk. It's pleasant that we are among the leaders in Ukraine. Together to victory! - commented Mykola Riznyk, head of the Opishnia community.
