A unique spine operation was performed in Kryvyi Rih

In Kryvyi Rih, surgeons have performed endoscopic spine surgery for the first time. Thanks to the surgical intervention, two patients who were unable to walk even 50 meters on their own started moving independently just two days after the operation. This was reported by the head of the healthcare department of the Kryvyi Rih City Council, Kostiantyn Murashko.

In one of the city's hospitals, a spine surgery was conducted, which local doctors describe as unique for Kryvyi Rih. The patients were operated on by Kryvyi Rih surgeons in collaboration with a colleague from Rivne.

"Recently, at the invitation of colleagues, patients were operated on by the heads of the traumatology department, Dmytro Yevhenovych Shcherbakov and Artem Olehovych Oryst, as part of our joint work. I sincerely thank our colleagues from Kryvyi Rih for the invitation and the very positive emotions during our teamwork," said Myronyk Bohran, a trauma surgeon from Rivne.

Both operated patients had complex stenoses of the spinal canal in the lumbar spine region. The surgical intervention was performed on a woman with a fracture of the third lumbar vertebra.

"Attitude towards the matter and the desire to help the patient undoubtedly contribute to the development of the field. Congratulations to the hospital colleagues on implementing new techniques and to all medical workers on their professional holiday!" mentioned Kostiantyn Murashko, the head of the healthcare department in Kryvyi Rih.

Spine injuries are one of the most dangerous injuries in traumatology, which can result in long-term disability or even death. Similar surgical procedures are performed only in a few clinics in Ukraine. Therefore, such operations are an important step in the development of the medical field in Kryvyi Rih.
