Ukraine will lack 4.5 million workers: Ministry of Economy Ukraine news 26 Jul 2023 at 14:55

According to the Ministry of Economy's estimate, Ukraine will need to additionally attract 4.5 million workers to the labor market over the next ten years. This projection suggests a growing need for labor in various sectors of the Ukrainian economy, which may arise due to factors such as economic development, population changes, and the potential for post-conflict reconstruction and recovery efforts.

Experts believe that the demand for labor will continue to increase during the post-war period as Ukraine rebuilds its society and infrastructure. The country is currently facing a critical economic situation, exacerbated by the fact that more than 6 million Ukrainians have been forced to leave the country.

The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that the revitalization of the labor market is a crucial step towards Ukraine's future success, and they are actively consulting with international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to address this challenge. They aim to lay the foundation for a renewed labor market that aligns with the new economic realities.

The rebuilding of the labor market is seen as a key component of Ukraine's path to sustainable development in the post-conflict era. This effort involves close cooperation and collaboration among various stakeholders, including international organizations, and it is essential for Ukraine's long-term success and recovery.

Additionally, it's noted that in Kirovohrad region, more than 93% of industrial enterprises that had stopped working due to the full-scale invasion by Russia have partially or fully resumed their operations, highlighting ongoing recovery efforts in the country.
