On the evening of August 6th, there was an explosion in a multi-story building in Poltava. This information was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Poltava region.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the explosion occurred on the third floor of a nine-story building. The Poltava Regional Police Department reported that the explosion took place in the vestibule between two apartments, and it was caused by an approximately eight-liter tourist gas cylinder.
The explosion resulted in damage to the interfloor slabs between the second, third, and fourth floors, as well as the interior partitions in the apartment where the explosion occurred.
As a result of the explosion, a 73-year-old owner of the gas cylinder, his 72-year-old wife, and their 44-year-old neighbor sustained injuries, including burns of varying degrees and other injuries. They were all transported to the hospital by medical personnel.
The State Emergency Service workers managed to rescue seven individuals in total, and two disabled individuals were evacuated and handed over to medical professionals.
The efforts to eliminate the consequences of the explosion were completed by 02:20 on August 7th. A total of 33 rescuers and eight pieces of equipment from the State Emergency Service were involved in the operation.
A criminal investigation has been initiated into this incident under Part 1 of Article 270 (Violation of the established legislation requirements on fire or technogenic safety, which resulted in a fire or accident causing harm to human health or significant property damage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
