Although summer is slowly coming to an end, you can still have a great vacation at the sea in early autumn. In Odessa, they are preparing the beaches for the opening of the velvet season, as announced by Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration (ORSA).
According to the official, the terrorist attack by Russia on the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station disrupted the start of the beach season in Odessa. However, as of today, the water quality in the Black Sea has stabilized and meets all sanitary standards.
Oleg Kiper has issued orders regarding the preparation of beach access for people. Beaches will be allowed to operate under certain conditions, including the installation of protective nets to prevent landmines from entering, the presence of observation and rescue posts, buoys, and loudspeakers, as well as nearby shelters.
"By 5:00 PM on August 10, the Odessa, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and Izmail Regional State Administrations must prepare the beaches accordingly and submit readiness reports to the Odessa ORSA. Those who cannot meet the deadline can submit later. But I urge everyone to meet the deadlines so that Odessa can welcome tourists this weekend. The weather forecast predicts up to +30 degrees Celsius, so we are waiting for everyone on our world-famous beaches," emphasized the head of the ORSA.
It's worth noting that at the end of May, local authorities announced that they would allow swimming on certain sections of Odessa's coastline, subject to specific requirements, such as the installation of barriers with buoys between the traverses and the presence of observation towers on the shore. However, the official opening of the beaches did not occur due to the terrorist attack on the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station on June 6, which resulted in severe pollution of the Black Sea. Additionally, there was a significant increase in landmines in the marine waters due to the flushing of many such "surprises" by the flow of fresh water resulting from the attack on the power station.
