In the Kropyvnytskyi district, an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been detected. The disease was found in two pigs on the territory of a private subsidiary farm in the village of Petrivka, within the boundaries of the Kompaniivska village council. There are a total of 59 pigs in this farm.
The local authorities have taken immediate measures to address the outbreak and prevent its spread. The local government convened a meeting of the State Extraordinary Anti-Epizootic Commission at the Kropyvnytskyi Regional State Administration (RDA). The commission approved an action plan and defined the boundaries of the epizootic focus (the territory of the private subsidiary farm) and established a protection zone with a radius of 3 km, which includes the villages of Petrivka and Pavlivka of the Kompaniivska village council in the Kropyvnytskyi district.
Additionally, a surveillance zone has been established, including several villages in the Kropyvnytskyi district. As per the guidelines for preventing and controlling African Swine Fever, all swine within the epizootic focus will be culled using bloodless methods. The carcasses of the animals, as well as contaminated materials, waste, and equipment, will be incinerated, and the incineration site will be disinfected.
A quarantine checkpoint has been set up at the entrance to the epizootic focus, and round-the-clock monitoring is in place. Access to the area is restricted for both vehicles and people during the quarantine period for ASF (40 days). Authorities are also working to determine the extent of swine populations in the protection and surveillance zones. There have been no reports of suspected cases of illness or deaths of swine from neighboring settlements and farms.
