In the Odessa region of Ukraine, there are nearly 24,000 hectares of vineyards, and they produce approximately 260,000 tons of grapes. This represents over 60% of the wine production in the specialized sector of the entire country.

This information was announced on August 10th by the Department of Agricultural Policy, Food, and Land Relations.

The largest vineyard areas are found in the Bolhrad district, where they cultivate 78,000 tons of grapes, and in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, where they produce 76,000 tons. In the Odessa district, they cultivate 27,000 tons.

On August 9th, in its second reading, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the bill No. 9030 "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Development of Wine Production and Simplification of Economic Activities of Small Wine Producers."

"The adoption of the bill allows vineyards and winemaking enterprises to participate not only in the 'Affordable Loans 5-7-9' program but also opens the way to the grant state program 'eRobota' in the direction of 'New Level: Processing.' This will contribute to the expansion of vineyard areas and increase opportunities for craft wine production," said Alla Stoyanova, the director of the Department of Agricultural Policy of the Odessa Regional State Administration.
