On August 5, the Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations in Ukraine, Denis Brown, visited Izmail in the Odessa region, which was attacked by the Russian occupying army with Iranian drones "Shahed 136/131" on August 2.
The coordinator witnessed the consequences of Russian attacks with her own eyes and condemned Russia for strikes on Ukrainian ports. This was reported by the press service of the United Nations in Ukraine.
"I visited the port of Izmail today and was shocked by the extent of the damage caused by Russian strikes on grain silos on August 2. Thousands of tons of grain were damaged, which would have been enough to feed nearly 66 million people in a single day," Denis Brown said.
According to the coordinator, the termination of the Black Sea grain agreement with the Russian Federation and the recent multiple attacks on Ukrainian ports are causing incredible losses to Ukraine's agricultural sector and could further exacerbate hunger among the world's poorest people.
Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure, Alexander Kubrakov, announced that the Russian army had destroyed warehouses and elevators with nearly 40,000 tons of grain in the port of Izmail. This grain was intended for countries in Africa, Israel, and China.
