At a staff meeting in the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Katerina Klavdieva, the director of the Poltava Regional Employment Center, reported on the employment status of internally displaced persons. According to her, starting from February 24, the employment center has provided jobs for 1,850 internally displaced persons, including 163 individuals involved in community work, co-financed by the community and the Employment Service, and 551 people in socially useful work.
To understand the reasons for the low employment rate, they conducted surveys:
- "At the request of the head of the Poltava Regional Administration, we conducted surveys in communities. We surveyed 5,308 internally displaced persons. Of these, 1,688 live in areas with a high concentration of IDPs, and 3,620 in territorial communities. We couldn't reach more people in high-density IDP areas due to factors like their constant migration, refusal to participate, and in some cases, even a categorical refusal to communicate with us," said Katerina Klavdieva.
According to her, the surveys were able to identify the problems that internally displaced persons face when seeking employment.
30% of those surveyed cited the absence of job vacancies related to their field of study, profession, or expertise as a key problem, along with the mismatch of their qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
23% mentioned low salaries as a concern.
12% mentioned the need to care for children or family members as a barrier to employment.
Among the named reasons for not being employed, some mentioned employers' refusal to hire them due to their status as internally displaced persons.
