Cherkasy has joined the national project initiated by the Office of the President of Ukraine, called "Shoulder to Shoulder."

This project involves the reconstruction of 26 de-occupied settlements in the Kherson region. Currently, 16 regions of Ukraine have joined the initiative. This was announced by the Cherkasy City Council.

By the order of the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburtsev, Cherkasy will be responsible for the village of Novopetrivka in Kherson.

This village was under Russian occupation for over six months. In October 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the settlement from the occupation forces.
Prior to the war, 834 residents lived in this settlement, but now the population has been halved.

Currently, the team from the Cherkasy City Council, along with volunteer construction brigades, has surveyed the village's infrastructure and made plans for the future.

In addition, the Cherkasy City Council recently sent a humanitarian cargo with building materials that will be used for infrastructure restoration. Novopetrivka will receive metal tiles, boards, and beams. All these materials were provided by representatives of responsible Cherkasy businesses who care about the future of Ukraine.

The Poltava region has also joined the project and is reconstructing the village of Pravdyne in Kherson.
