Footballer Artem Dovbyk, originally from Cherkasy, a forward for the football club "Dnipro-1" and the Ukrainian national team, has moved to La Liga (the Spanish football league).
The Spanish club "Girona" officially announced on their Twitter page that the Ukrainian footballer has joined their team.
In the summer, Artem Dovbyk signed a contract with "Dnipro-1" until 2025, as his previous agreement was set to expire in 2024. This allowed him to sign a contract with a club interested in him at the beginning of January.
Dovbyk played two matches for "Dnipro-1" in the UEFA Champions League qualification this season against "Panathinaikos" and even scored a goal. Following the second leg match, Artem traveled to Spain for a medical examination with "Girona."
Artem Dovbyk signed a five-year contract, valid until the end of the 2027/28 season. According to Spanish journalist Neila Sola, Dovbyk's transfer to "Girona" cost the club seven million euros.
In total, Dovbyk played 30 matches in the Ukrainian Premier League, scoring 24 goals and recording three hat-tricks. He also received one yellow card.
Additionally, Artem Dovbyk made his debut for the Ukrainian national team in 2021 in a match against Kazakhstan. He has played a total of 18 matches for the national team, scoring six goals.
One of his most significant goals for the national team was scored against Sweden in the 1/8 finals of Euro 2020 in extra time, which allowed Ukraine to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
