Elina Svitolina defeats Belarus and advances to the Wimbledon quarterfinals

28-year-old tennis player from Odessa, Elina Svitolina, has reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. The official Wimbledon Twitter account reported this.

Elina Svitolina faced Belarusian representative Victoria Azarenka. Azarenka was considered the favorite in this match, but the Ukrainian tennis player still managed to win.

In the first set, Azarenka easily defeated Elina. In the second set, the Ukrainian lost the first game on her serve, but then she made a comeback. When the score was 4-3, Elina was close to a break, but she succeeded when the score reached 5-4. This allowed her to push the match into the third set.

Elina won the first three sets, but the Belarusian representative managed to make a break. Then the set went into a tiebreak.

In the tiebreak, Svitolina was behind, but she still managed to defeat Azarenka and advance to the Wimbledon semi-finals.

It's worth noting that Elina did not shake hands with the Belarusian player. Moreover, some fans booed the representative from the country that supports Russia.

Additionally, in the Vinnytsia region, a modular settlement is being established for internally displaced people with disabilities. In 27 blocks, 40 people with disabilities who have arrived from regions with active hostilities will be accommodated. The modular complex includes two kitchens, bathrooms, two washing machines, as well as showers and relaxation rooms.
