After the terrorist act by Russian occupiers involving the detonation of the dam at the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station (HES), the water conditions in the Odessa Bay have stabilized. Measurements of water samples show a significant improvement in the quality of seawater, its salinity, and other seasonal parameters. Additionally, endangered sea horses and marbled crabs have returned to the bay. This information was reported by the Department of Ecology and Health Protection of the Odessa Regional Military Administration.

According to the information, the intensity of natural self-purification processes in the marine ecological system is unprecedented and surpasses known local technologies for improving water quality. Favorable hydrological and climatic conditions are also contributing to the acceleration of these natural processes.

Immediately after the explosion at the Kakhovska HES, the remnants of reed beds were submerged along the coastline. Currently, according to scientists from the Institute of Marine Biology, their quantity has significantly decreased, and the situation is considerably improved. There are some remaining plant remnants, branches, and such on the seabed, but the overall situation is much better.

Furthermore, in the Odessa region, the epidemiological situation regarding infectious diseases remains under control. For example, the number of cases of gastrointestinal infections is lower than seasonal averages.

Previously, Odessa ecologist Vladislav Balinsky shared a video showing the state of the Black Sea floor after the sabotage carried out by Russian occupiers at the Kakhovska HES. He filmed the video on July 15th at the "Sobachyi" beach in Odessa. The video revealed a significant amount of organic and inorganic debris that was brought from the Dnipro River.
