SBI investigates beating of serviceman in Odesa region

The State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) is conducting an investigation into the case of assault on a serviceman at a military unit in the Odessa region. This information was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations.

On August 12, 2023, the DBR received information that a serviceman had been hospitalized with head injuries due to a fight at a military unit. DBR employees immediately initiated an investigation into the incident. They conducted urgent investigative actions on the premises of the military unit, collected video evidence, interviewed witnesses, and also interviewed the injured serviceman in the hospital.

According to the injured serviceman, the person responsible for the military unit caused him physical harm.

Currently, the State Bureau of Investigations has opened a criminal case on the grounds of abuse of power or official authority by a military serviceman (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and all circumstances of the incident are being determined.

It's important to note that on the night of August 14, the Russian occupation army launched "Kalibr" missiles from the Black Sea waters, and Iranian kamikaze drones "Shahed 136/131" from the southeast direction towards Odessa. Debris fell on a dormitory of an educational institution, a residential building, and the "Fozzy" supermarket.
