Instead of petitions: the awarding of the title "Hero of Ukraine" will now be considered by an expert group

The proposal for conferring the title 'Hero of Ukraine' will be reviewed by an expert group within the Commission for State Awards and Heraldry. The decree was signed by Volodymyr Zelensky.

A large number of appeals and electronic petitions regarding the awarding of the title 'Hero of Ukraine' to various defenders of our country indicates that this matter requires organization. Therefore, it has been decided to establish a special advisory body - an expert group. It will include the military leadership of our state, commanders of branches of the armed forces and OSUV, representatives of law enforcement agencies, who will consider each heroic act separately and submit proposals for the awarding of state honors. Every one of our heroes, who selflessly defended Ukraine from Russian invaders, liberated our land from occupiers, and sacrificed their health or life for our freedom, deserves to be honored properly. We must know the names of all our heroes," stated Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, the expert group will include the military leadership of the state, commanders of branches of the armed forces and OSUV, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies, who will assess each heroic act individually and submit proposals for the awarding of state honors.
