Russian terrorists launched drone attacks on Odessa region twice overnight. The main targets were port and grain infrastructure in the southern part of the region. This was reported by the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper.

The drone attacks were carried out from the southeast direction, and as a result, storage facilities and grain warehouses at one of the Danube ports were damaged. The resulting fires were quickly extinguished by the State Emergency Service (DSNS) personnel.

Oleg Kiper expressed his gratitude to those who heeded the warnings of danger and took shelter during the attacks, emphasizing that there were no casualties or injuries.

According to the Public Relations Service of the Air Command "South," Russian occupation forces attacked the port infrastructure of Odessa region with armed UAVs of the "Shahed-136/131" type on the night of August 16, 2023. These attacks were launched from the southeast direction, specifically from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Chauda.

The Air Defense Forces of the Air Command "South" managed to destroy 9 armed UAVs of the "Shahed-136/131" type, with 7 of them being shot down in Odessa region and 2 in Mykolaiv region. Additionally, 4 armed drones were destroyed by other units of the South Defense Forces in Odessa region.

During the previous day, on August 15, 2023, in Mykolaiv region, the Air Defense Forces of the Air Command "South" also destroyed 1 reconnaissance UAV "Merlin-VR."

Furthermore, the enemy targeted Nikopol in the evening and Marganetska community in the early morning, using Grad rockets and heavy artillery. Several dozen projectiles landed in populated areas, but fortunately, there were no casualties among the locals. The extent of damage is still being assessed, and inspections of the affected areas are ongoing.
