On May 14th, Ukraine commemorates the Day of Remembrance of Ukrainians who saved Jews during World War II. This significant date was established by the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on February 2, 2021, to honor Ukrainian Righteous Among the Nations and other rescuers of Jews who risked their lives and the lives of their families to help Jews escape the terror of the Nazis during the Holocaust.

To mark this occasion, students from Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs visited the Vinnytsia Holocaust Museum. The museum's director, Leonid Trakhtenberg, conducted an excursion for the students, providing insights into the events of 1939-1945 while periodically drawing parallels with war crimes and acts of genocide committed today by the followers of the Nazis, specifically, the Russians on Ukrainian territory. This aimed to deepen the students' understanding of the intolerance of ideologies promoting hatred towards humanity and the practices of totalitarian regimes.

The exhibition titled "...But they will be reborn in glory and strength" will be open throughout the year. It is worth noting that individuals recognized as Righteous Among the Nations receive a personalized medal, an honorary certificate, and the right to inscribe their name on the Wall of Honor in the Garden of the Righteous in Jerusalem. According to the law, Righteous Among the Nations receive honorary Israeli citizenship, and in the event of their passing, they are granted posthumous citizenship.

Ukraine ranks fourth in the world (after Poland, the Netherlands, and France) in the number of Righteous Among the Nations, with over 2,600 individuals recognized for their heroism and compassion.
