Blogger and member of the Poltava City Council, Andriy Karpov, is trying to regain his position as the secretary of the Poltava City Council through legal action. He filed the corresponding lawsuit today, on August 17. He announced this on his Facebook page.
Recall that after Poltava's mayor, Oleksandr Mamai, was convicted in a case involving housekeepers who cleaned his home and received salaries from the city budget, Karpov became the acting mayor of Poltava. This happened on March 2.
Over the course of several months, a coalition within the city council began forming to remove Karpov from his position, but the deputies could not agree on a successor. After a majority was formed in the city council, the former secretary found reasons to postpone sessions or prevent the required number of deputies from attending.
For example, acting mayor Andriy Karpov disrupted an extraordinary session of the city council on May 10. During this session, opposition deputies were supposed to vote to replace Karpov with a new secretary.
In the local organization of the "Servant of the People" party, it was stated that Karpov refused to wait for deputies who are currently serving on the front lines and were on their way to the session, choosing to close the session prematurely.
On July 28, deputies removed Andriy Karpov from the position of secretary of the Poltava City Council with their votes and elected Kateryna Yamshchykova, a representative of the "Servant of the People" party, as his replacement. During the session, Karpov did not hold back and did not hesitate to insult the deputies.
