In the city of Cherkasy, more than 60 participants from five regions of Ukraine are taking part in the national sailing championship. This year's competition is a significant event for the Cherkasy region. It was mentioned in a post on the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration's website.
Alexander Shamray, the Deputy Chief of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, welcomed the athletes and coaches, noting that the first similar competitions in the region were held 60 years ago.
"This is another time we welcome the best athletes in the country to Cherkasy. May the weather always be on your side. Seven feet under the keel!" wished Alexander Shamray during the greeting.
This year's championship will last for several days and features various categories, including women, men, and juniors. The winners will have the opportunity to compete in international competitions.
Earlier, swimmers from Kropyvnytskyi became world champions at the World Deaf Swimming Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the third day of the competition, the Kropyvnytskyi swimmers added more medals to their achievements, with Irina Tereshchenko winning a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke individual event and a gold medal in the 4x100m medley relay alongside Daria Tarasenko as part of the Ukrainian team.
