Traitor from Dnipro will spend 15 years in prison for creating an agent network and adjusting enemy missile strikes

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has gathered sufficient evidence regarding the coordinator of a Russian espionage network operating in the city of Dnipro. The participants in this network were involved in adjusting Russian missile strikes on the city and subsequently reporting the outcomes of these attacks to their Moscow handlers.

The coordinator of the group attempted to conceal his activities under the guise of being the head of one of the civic organizations. However, SSU operatives managed to expose and apprehend him, along with six of his associates, during a special operation. Following SSU's investigation, the court sentenced the traitor to 15 years of imprisonment. This information was reported on the SSU's Facebook page.

The investigation revealed that the traitor had been recruited by a Russian military intelligence officer at the outset of the full-scale invasion. By the spring of 2022, the group began gathering information about critical infrastructure facilities in the region. The collected data was sent by the coordinator to his handler via a messaging application. Based on the gathered evidence, the traitor was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for "State treason committed during wartime."

Previously, the Security Service of Ukraine detained an Odessa resident who was preparing a missile strike on the capital. This individual, working for Russia's Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (commonly known as the GRU), was providing information about the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces units within the capital region for monetary compensation. The aggressor was particularly interested in repair bases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where maintenance and restoration work on Ukrainian military equipment was carried out.
