At the Ukrainian championship in hand-to-hand combat, where young boys, juniors, and girls competed, athletes from the Dnipropetrovsk region won 17 gold, 20 silver, and 30 bronze medals. This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.
Oleksandr Pshenychnikov, the director of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, stated that the region was represented by 100 athletes, both boys and girls aged 10 to 17. Among the participants were athletes from Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and the Magdalinivka community.
Among them, many were children who joined for the first time. Young athletes prepared well and showed a worthy result," emphasized Oleksandr Pshenychnikov.
Throughout the championship, athletes from the Dnipropetrovsk region won 67 medals in the individual standings. In total, 600 athletes from 14 regions of Ukraine participated in the Ukrainian championship in hand-to-hand combat. The prestigious tournament took place in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
During the competition, athletes determined the stronger one in light and controlled contacts and in the "kata" section. Nadiya Sotnykova, the director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Federation of Hand-to-Hand Combat, explained that during light contact, judges only evaluate the accuracy of strikes with hands and feet. During controlled contact, throws and strikes without stopping time and with greater force can also be used. In the kata discipline, the athlete must independently perform a set of exercises, and the jury evaluates the precision of strikes and technique.
Earlier, we reported that athletes from the Odessa region returned with awards from nationwide and international competitions.
