On August 29th, in Dnipropetrovsk Region, a special stamp was issued to honor Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom, sovereignty, and independence of our country. The stamp, titled "Sorrow," was based on the work of renowned Ukrainian artist Oleg Shuplyak. It depicts a Cossack musician bowing his head over the graves of his comrades, with cranes flying overhead. The stamp was introduced by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.
Those who were taken by the war, we will not forget them. Their memory will always be with us. This new stamp is dedicated to the day when we honor the fallen soldiers. The release is symbolic and holds special significance for me because we owe our lives to our heroes. In their memory, we continue to strive for victory, said Volodymyr Orlov, the First Deputy Chief of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, during the stamp issuance.
Anton Izotov, the Operations Director of the Eastern Region at Ukrposhta, mentioned that the stamp release has a charitable component, with three hryvnias from each stamp going to support the families of soldiers who died defending Ukraine.
A total of 500,000 stamps were issued, available for purchase at post offices and online stores. In addition to the stamps, themed envelopes featuring the symbol of the memorial day, the sunflower, were printed. A total of 2,700 copies of these envelopes were produced for Dnipropetrovsk Region.
Previously, we reported that a special stamp honoring the defenders of Ukraine's southern frontiers was issued in Odessa. This project was a collaboration between the well-known Odessa photographer Boris Bukhman, Ukrposhta, and border guards. Boris Bukhman recreated images of the guardians of the South on postal stamps, representing the unwavering bravery and courage of Ukrainian military personnel in the war for Ukraine's independence.
