Nine medical medical institutions in Vinnytsia region can treat patients with stroke

Nine medical institutions in Vinnytsia region, which have the appropriate package from the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), can provide assistance to patients with strokes. In case of suspicion of a stroke, patients should be transported by ambulance to one of these nine hospitals:

Bershad District Intensive Care Hospital
Zhytomyr Central District Hospital
Mohyliv-Podilskyi District Intensive Care Hospital
Nemyriv Municipal Hospital
Khmilnyk Central District Hospital
Yampil Territorial Hospital
Vinnytsia Psychoneurological Hospital named after Academician O.I. Yushchenko.

However, there have been cases in the region where patients are admitted for treatment to facilities that do not have the necessary specialists for stroke treatment and the provision of qualified medical assistance. This was discussed during a meeting with the heads of Vinnytsia region's hospitals, as by the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration.

Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Rehabilitation of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration, Tetiana Bondarenko, explained that in the first quarter of 2023, Koziatyn Hospital treated 46 stroke patients, with 14 of them unfortunately passing away. Eight patients with suspected strokes were sent to Tivriivska Hospital, which also cannot provide the necessary assistance.

These are just a few examples of where patients with suspected strokes are being taken. The reasons for this situation will be investigated. Tetiana Bondarenko emphasized the importance of transporting patients to the appropriate facility based on the patient's condition, as it can save lives. She also reminded everyone that institutions with contracts with the NHSU for the "Medical Assistance for Acute Stroke" package cover the diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation during the acute period at the expense of the National Health Service of Ukraine. Therefore, it is free for patients, including CT scans.

According to data from the NHSU, 1551 stroke patients have received medical assistance in Vinnytsia region since the beginning of the year.
