Vladimir Kalmik, a physical education teacher at Bilaiiv Lyceum No. 1 in the Odesa region, was posthumously awarded the President's Medal for personal courage and heroism displayed in the defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity during the battles to liberate Kherson. He had worked at the lyceum for over 20 years. This information was reported by the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

- Among the awardees were individuals involved in ensuring the uninterrupted operation and protection of sea port waters and assisting in the implementation of the "Grain Initiative." Honors were given to transporters and drivers responsible for organizing the delivery of humanitarian aid and food to the areas under occupation and evacuating civilians from the combat zones, - stated Boris Voloshenkov, the Acting Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

Several Odessa entrepreneurs-philanthropists were honored with the President's Award for Defense of Ukraine. They provided substantial support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Volunteers were also recognized, many of whom are active participants in volunteer centers within educational institutions in the Odesa region. They were commended for their daily provision of military units and medical facilities with food products. Additionally, they were honored for delivering clean water to Mykolaiv, manufacturing trench candles, sewing balaclavas and flags for the Kherson and Donetsk frontlines, and weaving camouflage nets for military intelligence.

- Thousands of hardworking and wonderful people live and work in Odesa, each contributing to various fields of activity, each on their "frontline." Whether it's in the medical, transport, or artistic sector, they are all doing their best to not only strengthen our rear but also support our defenders and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so that together we can overcome the enemy and bring peace and joy back to Ukraine! - emphasized Boris Voloshenkov during the congratulatory speech.

We also reported that a prize was established in Dnipro in honor of a teacher who died on the frontlines. It will be awarded to teachers for professional achievements and to students for victories in national and regional olympiads.
