In the communities of Poltava Oblast, there are plans to strengthen weight control for motor vehicles to prevent road damage. To carry out this control, communities in the region will involve the police and representatives of the traffic police. They will be dispatched on the roads to inspect those trucks whose weight significantly exceeds permissible norms. This was discussed during a meeting at the Poltava Regional Military Administration, chaired by Deputy Head of the OVA, Maxim Kalinin.

"If communities need assistance from the representatives of the State Transport Safety and the police, they should submit the appropriate requests to the OVA. We will engage the relevant crews to conduct weight control activities on the highways to preserve the road surfaces," assured Maxim Kalinin.

Currently, several communities in Poltava Oblast have given preliminary consent to collaborate with "Ukrtransbezpeka." In Poltava Oblast, there are four WiM complexes on the roads that monitor violations round the clock. However, these complexes are installed exclusively on roads of national importance. Local roads are not protected by such systems. Consequently, some irresponsible entrepreneurs take advantage of the lack of control and cause damage to roads by sending overloaded transport along them.

"Every day, Ukrtransbezpeka employees go to sites where they weigh vehicles and check the dimensions of weight control. However, there are drivers who wait until traffic safety personnel finish the check and move to another location," said Dmytro Tkachenko, Head of the Department of State Supervision (Control) for Transport Safety in Poltava Oblast.

It's reported that since the beginning of 2023, law enforcement officers have inspected 345 vehicles, identified violations in 103 cases, and recorded overloading in 30 vehicles.
