During the war with the Russian Federation, defender Maxim Hayday from Kanev was lost. This information was reported by the press service of the Kanev City Council.
32-year-old Maxim Hayday from Kanev lost his life in combat in Donetsk Oblast while performing his military duties. According to the press service, he served as part of the artillery unit of the artillery battery of a military division.

It is worth noting that on May 11, a farewell was held near the Poltava Holy Assumption Cathedral for two fallen soldiers, Dmitry Yudenko and Valery Sosnovsky. On May 6, a military serviceman, Junior Sergeant Dmitry Yudenko, was killed near Bakhmut. He was a public activist, the head of the "Voroskol" public association, and a veteran of the Azov Regiment. Dmitry went to war in 2014 after his younger brother Eugene was killed. He joined the Azov volunteer battalion and, after two and a half years of service in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), returned to civilian life. After the full-scale invasion by Russia, he rejoined the military, initially enlisting in the territorial defense and later joining the newly formed Third Separate Assault Brigade. On the same day, May 6, near the village of Georgiyivka in Donetsk Oblast, soldier Valery Sosnovsky was killed. Valery was 38 years old and served as a driver in a fire support team.
