On June 10th, in Vinnytsia Region, Olympic Day was celebrated, dedicated to the opening of the III European Games taking place in Poland. Vinnytsia Region is represented by six participants at these games. To mark the occasion, sporting events were organized in the central park of Vinnytsia. This was announced on the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration's Facebook page.
Sergiy Borzov, the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, participated in the events. He greeted the athletes, coaches, and spectators on Olympic Day, emphasizing Vinnytsia's storied history of sports achievements. He also noted that the region's athletes, by winning in various competitions, contribute to raising Ukraine's international image. These victories allow the yellow-and-blue flag to be raised in different parts of the world.
During the festivities, young athletes from Vinnytsia Region demonstrated their sportsmanship. They put on demonstration performances in taekwondo, Greco-Roman wrestling, acrobatics, artistic gymnastics, and track and field. Residents of Vinnytsia also joined the sporting events, participating in relay races and other sports. Vinnytsians competed in checkers, darts, and table tennis. Those interested also took part in a run around the local stadium. After the competitions concluded, all participants were awarded with certificates, trophies, medals, and valuable gifts.
Previously, discussions in Vinnytsia Region focused on fostering Olympic champions in the area. During a meeting, they also talked about competitions organized by the National Olympic Committee's branch in Vinnytsia Region.
