Representatives of Poltava Region have secured eight medals at the 3rd European Games held in Krakow, Poland. Poltava's athletes brought home five gold and three silver medals. This outstanding performance contributed to Ukraine's overall success in the games, as the Ukrainian team claimed the third spot in the medal standings. The rowing competitions were especially fruitful for Poltava, with athletes like Lyudmyla Luzan winning two gold medals and a silver, and Oleh Kukharik and Ihor Trunov adding more gold and silver to the tally.
In addition to rowing, success was also achieved by Poltava's boxers and Muay Thai competitors. Alexander Khizhniak became the boxing champion, while Oleh Pryimachov dominated the Muay Thai competition, earning the gold medal.
Furthermore, Taissiya Babenko, a member of the Ukrainian beach soccer team, contributed a silver medal to Poltava's impressive collection. This notable achievement underscores the skill and dedication of Poltava's athletes in various sports disciplines.
Previously, athletes from Dnipropetrovsk Region won 130 medals in various national and international tournaments over the course of a week. These achievements further demonstrate the sporting excellence and success of Ukrainian athletes across different regions.
