Dnipropetrovs'k region exposes criminal group that caused UAH 7 million in losses to the state Ukraine news 06 May 2023 at 14:00

Dnipropetrovsk region investigators have exposed members of a criminal group that caused nearly 7 million hryvnias in damage to the state. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Officials of a state enterprise established a private company through which they entered into contracts for various types of work. Meanwhile, the state enterprise remained unprofitable, and income was received only on paper.

Law enforcement officers found that the 73-year-old director of the enterprise involved two accomplices in the criminal group - his own son and a local resident. They created a private company through which they entered into contracts for the production of various types of products.

All economic activity was carried out exclusively through their company, and contracts were not concluded on behalf of the state enterprise. As a result, from 2016 to 2019, the criminals misappropriated budget funds in the amount of over 6.9 million hryvnias.

On April 28, 2023, authorized searches were carried out at the places of residence of the defendants, during which the police seized a number of material evidence confirming their criminal activity.

All three participants in the criminal scheme of embezzlement of budget funds were handed notices of suspicion under Part 4 and 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement, misappropriation, or seizure of property by abusing official position).

Currently, two suspects - the director of the state enterprise and the accountant - have been remanded in custody.
