"On July 25th, a working group for damaged cultural heritage sites, which were affected by Russian shelling on July 23rd, began its work. In the coming days, experts from UNESCO are expected to arrive in Odessa, as previously reported. This information was reported by the Odessa City Council.
The specialists will document and assess the damage and provide recommendations for priority emergency work.
Among the damaged buildings is the Chyzhevych House, a locally significant architectural monument built in the 19th century, located on Voiyskovyi Uzviz. Similar work is being carried out at the damaged Solomos Building, where international experts will also be involved.
A total of 66 damaged buildings are currently known. Over the course of two days, 30 pieces of equipment and 102 employees of the enterprise were involved in the work. Approximately 900 window openings were closed, and 657 cubic meters of construction debris were removed.
Recall that on the night of July 22nd to 23rd, Russian forces launched another massive attack on the territory of Odessa and the surrounding region. This shelling was the most extensive and destructive for Odessa since the beginning of the war with Russia. Civil infrastructure, multi-story and private residential buildings, as well as citizens' cars, were damaged as a result of the rocket attack. Many buildings suffered damage to their facades and roofs, and windows were shattered.
One of the religious structures in the city center also sustained damage and caught fire.
Additionally, during the night of Monday, July 24th, in the Odessa region, several explosions occurred during an air raid alarm. This time, the target was the port infrastructure of the Danube River. Russian forces conducted a four-hour attack using "Shahed-136" drones. Warehouses containing grain and other cargo were damaged, and storage tanks for other types of cargo were also affected. A fire broke out in one of the industrial buildings, but it was promptly extinguished."
