A 19-year-old man who tried to cross the border on a child's mattress was detained in Vinnytsia region

On July 21 in Vinnytsia region, at the section of the border guard unit "Yampil" of the Mohyliv-Podilsky detachment, a 19-year-old young man was apprehended as he attempted to cross the border illegally by crossing the Dniester River on an inflatable children's mattress. This information was reported on the Facebook page of the Mohyliv-Podilsky border guard unit.

The young man was a resident of Kherson region and took the risk of his life to swim across the river. According to the State Border Guard Service workers, the 19-year-old "fugitive" had pre-planned his journey across the border. He had even reserved a hotel room in one of the localities in Moldova, but the vigilance of the border guards prevented his trip.

It's worth mentioning that a 43-year-old citizen of the French Republic, on his two-seat kayak, entered the waters of the "Reni Maritime Trade Port," located in Odesa region. The man claimed that he came from the German city of Lampertheim and planned to get into the Black Sea via the Tylchyne estuary. He explained that he lost his way and accidentally crossed the state border of Ukraine. In total, the Frenchman's journey lasted 51 days during which he periodically docked at the shores of various Eurozone countries to replenish his provisions.
