On August 6, at approximately 13:00, local residents of the village of Mashivka in Poltava district reported to law enforcement that there had been an explosion in a residential building. This information was provided by the Main Department of the National Police in Poltava region.

Immediately, an investigative-operational group, rescuers, and medical personnel arrived at the scene. The explosion was caused by a household gas leak, resulting in injuries to the 39-year-old homeowner. He was in critical condition and was transported to the intensive care unit by medical professionals.

A criminal investigation has been initiated into this incident under Part 1 of Article 270 (Violation of the established legislation requirements on fire or technogenic safety, which resulted in a fire or accident causing harm to human health or significant property damage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

It's worth noting that in a nine-story building in Poltava, there was another gas explosion earlier. The explosion occurred in the vestibule between two apartments, involving an approximately eight-liter tourist gas cylinder. In that incident, a 73-year-old owner of the gas cylinder, his 72-year-old wife, and their 44-year-old neighbor were injured, with varying degrees of burns and injuries. They were all taken to the hospital by medical personnel. The State Emergency Service (DSNS) workers rescued seven individuals in total, including two with disabilities, and handed them over to medical professionals.
