The head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Igor Taburets, announced that the regional authorities recommend pilgrims to refrain from visiting Uman due to the ongoing war, regular mass shelling of our country, and potential provocations from Russia.

"However, we understand that some believers, like last year, will still dare to come. Therefore, together with the city authorities, the security and defense sector, and all relevant services, we are already working preventively. Today, a meeting of the special commission was held on this matter with the participation of the Deputy Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine, Liron Finkelstein," the official said.

According to him, the primary focus is on coordinating security measures. They will be reinforced, similar to last year.

"I will provide more details later. We are also working on other aspects, based on the experience of previous celebrations. This includes providing medical assistance, the operation of public catering facilities, the work of municipal services, anti-epidemic measures, and more. The key priority remains unchanged – the safety of local residents and visitors," emphasized Igor Taburets.

This year, the holiday falls on September 15-17. In Ukraine, the holiday is known due to the pilgrimage to the tomb of the tzaddik Nachman in Uman. In the last year of his life, the founder of the Bratslav Hasidic movement called on all followers to celebrate the holiday together with him. His students, led by Nathan, interpreted this as an invitation to visit the teacher's grave.

In 2022, despite the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, Hasidic pilgrims arrived in Uman for the celebration.
