After the sabotage of the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Station (HES) by the occupiers in the region, fishing was banned. The condition of rivers was monitored, and the impact of ecocide on water quality was tracked. The restriction was in effect for nearly two months. It has now been lifted, as reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration.
"The Regional Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations has lifted the ban on fishing. It was in effect in the region for almost two months. Throughout this time, experts monitored the state of rivers, tracked how the enemy's crime against the environment would affect the water quality in them, and checked for the presence of pathogens of intestinal infections," explained Kateryna Shapovalova, the director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration.
Their conclusion is that the indicators are within the norm. Therefore, fishing for industrial, sports, recreational, and underwater purposes is now allowed.
However, it's worth noting that hunting for crayfish remains prohibited. These river inhabitants are in their breeding season, and catching them before the end of September is not allowed.
Violators may face fines of up to 680 UAH, and there is also a damage fee of 3,332 UAH for each illegally caught crayfish.
Additionally, although summer is coming to an end, the beginning of autumn is still a good time to enjoy the sea. In Odessa, preparations are underway to open the velvet season on the beaches, as announced by Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration. Despite the terrorist act committed by the Russians at the Kakhovska HES disrupting the start of the beach season in Odessa, the water quality in the Black Sea has stabilized and meets all sanitary standards.
